On April 17, 2013, Center for Democracy “Miko Tripalo”  organized a conference with the theme: Religious Rights and Freedoms – promoting ecumenical dialogue and inter-confessional cooperation in the City of Zagreb.

A meeting with representatives of religious communities from the city of Zagreb was organized. Members of religious communities from across Croatia were invited to this conference, including Bishop-elect Jasmin Milic, who was unable to attend. Pastor Jasmin Koso and missionary Thomas Smith of Christ Redeemer were in attendance.  Moderators of the conference were: Dr. Ankica Marinovic and  Dr. Ivan Markešić.

Topics included:  religious rights and freedoms, promotion of ecumenical dialogue, and inter-confessional cooperation within the city of Zagreb metropolitan area.  Talks centered on the contribution of religious communities – based on mutual ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue and inter-confessional cooperation. This cooperation can lead to peace-building, reconciliation, tolerance and co-existence, not only in Zagreb but also in all of Croatia.

The conference was held under the auspices and with the participation of the President of Croatia, Mr. Ivo Josipovic,. Unfortunately, none of the government’s Commission for Relations with Religious Communities attended the conference.
